Clw Wag-9 Machine Door Aluminium
Clw Wag-9 Machine Door Aluminium
Application: Machine-room access door used on WAG-9 series electric freight locomotives (and closely related platforms). CLW governs the door’s technical baseline under CLW/MS/3/111 (Cab Entrance & Machine Room Doors).
Environment & sealing: WAG-9 cab and machine-room enclosures are specified to meet IP54 dust/water protection with doors and windows closed. Door assemblies (leaf + frame + sealing) contribute to these requirements.
- Aluminium construction
- Ingress protection
- Railway-grade hardware
- Finish & corrosion control
1. Assemblies & Sub-components
Door leaf assembly: aluminium skins/profiles, internal stiffeners, optional glazed vision panel (where specified), mounting backing plates.
Door frame assembly: aluminium frame with compressible EPDM/NBR gasket groove; threshold/drip edge geometry to meet IP target.
Hinge set: railway-grade hinges (often 3-leaf) with captive pins or tamper-resistant hardware.
Locking system: outside handle + inside emergency release; keeper/striker plates; provisions for door-lock status switch for locomotive logic.
Stops & retainers: door checks/limiters to prevent over-swing in yards.
Fasteners & inserts: stainless or coated fasteners and isolating washers to mitigate dissimilar-metal corrosion per RDSO guidance
2. Specifications
Governing spec: CLW/MS/3/111 (incl. latest alteration) for Cab Entrance & Machine-Room Doors—use this number on RFQs and drawings. CLW also circulates draft/modified issues (e.g., Alt-6) for feedback.
System-level requirement: WAG-9 locomotive standard (RDSO/2011/EL/SPEC/0111, Rev.1 or successor) which calls for IP54 cab/machine-room protection with doors shut; door assemblies must enable this.
Form/fit: Door overall size, hinge centers, frame opening, thickness, swing direction (LH/RH), and interface hole pattern—as per vendor/CLW drawings.
Materials & finish: aluminium grade and temper, coating/painting stack, gasket material, hardware material & plating per spec clause references.
Functional checks: latch engagement, seal compression, door-lock indication switch operation (where fitted), smoothness of operation, and water-spray dust ingress checks to IP54 intent
